Dear Friends at Agathiyam,

Some time ago, our Dr.Kalyan referred Ms.Jennifer
from US to me regarding a manuscript. Ever since then, I have
been involved in helping her with the identification. At the
same time, insights to methodology, possibilitities, elimination
of unlikelihoods have all been given. We managed to get
other scholars involved in this work.
Now, we have narrowed down to a specific spectrum.
Further help is needed in this.
There are several Agathiyar group members from
Bangalore. We request you to help out like this.
Once you are willing to help, and also follow-up,
we will forward scanned images of the manuscript. Only
a few sample leaves will be forwarded. (The whole thing
is made up of 108 leaves of (?)bark/palm leaf).
We will then forward an address in Bangalore.
The print-outs of the images have to be taken there.
After suitable enquiries, see if the script and contents can be
identified by anybody there. Please give us a feed-back.
Thanking you in anticipation,

Regards

Jayabarathi

Subject: old Nandinagari manuscript

Hello :

My name is Jennifer and I live in the United States. A relative of mine
owns an old Indian manuscript. For many years he has been searching for
some one to translate it, or even identify the script. He has had no
success so far. He has had scholars at Yale, Harvard, the Smithsonian,
the University of Minnesota and the University of Arizona look at
photocopies. All have been very interested. None has been able to
identify the script.

The book is made of 108 thin wood slats, clearly scribed with five lines
on each side. There is a hole bored through the slats, with a piece of
twine that holds it together. There are two thicker pieces of wood that
serve as a front and back cover. One scholar suggested that the script
may be Nandinagari, and that the wood may be bamboo.

Kind sir, I do not believe my relative is interested in selling or
donating this manuscript. He is most anxious to have it translated as it
means a great deal to him. I was hoping that you might be able to help
me by recommending the name of a scholar who might have an interest in
identifying and translating such a manuscript. If so, I would be able to
send images of it via the internet.

I appreciate your time in this matter, and I look forward to your
response. Thank you.

Jennifer
