IN my opinion , the most important work you can do is to take at random an
artilcle in strait times and translate it into Tamil

present the English version too

Many Tamil writers have problem covering areas that are not standard
(religion, movie, politics and a bit of sports)

Most of the Tamil papers and magazines exclude articles on diverse topics
like science, technology, business, sociology, changing culture, hobbies

they are also bereft of factual information. no data, no statistics and so
forth
