Dear Friends,

Dear Mani,
Thank you for pointing out my work in this august group.
When I undertook the project on behalf of the globaltamil group, I did not
realise how difficult the task was going to be. I have, as you had pointed
in your earlier letters to me, considered your sugestions to enhance the
work by inlcuding " more detailed
column on just one word, tracing its etymology, usage, evolution,
quotations from literature of different periods, along the lines of what
the Merriam Websters editors have done." That would take ages to do and
with the little time that I have at my disposal, I am grappling as to how
to divide the remaining time to all the other equally demanding, albeit
voluntary, work, it would take even more time.
But your suggestion of inviting guest writers to write columns is an
excellent idea. I shall be most glad to tie up with anyone to make my work
better. I do notice that there are very good scholars, including you Mani,
in this group. Please do give me your inputs and assistance and we can work
together to arrive at the Merriam's standard.
Dr Jayabarathi is not able to receive his mails from globaltamil for a
while as such he has not been writing. I intend to send them to him
separately from now on and I do sincererly hope he will give his valuable
inputs.

Actually I have been summarily unsubscribed
from Indology, Titiwangsa, GlobalTamil, TamilHindu,
and four other email groups.
Mails were bouncing. I could only manage with
yahoo for some personal mail and Agathiyar.
The line is getting cut off very often. And
the downloading is very very slow. What used to take
15 seconds, now takes half hour or more.
I managed to send some mails through tm.net,
the ISP. But received only four to ten out of two
hundred plus mails per day. There is no such thing as
quota limits for emails by the ISP.
The debacle is self-created due to inefficieny.
But that is only the tip of the ice-berg. The real
intention of the poor services is different. There is
more than meets the eye.
Many a times an accident can be incidental.
Rather being an accidental incident, it is often an
incidental accidental. It all depends on how you play
the strings in the ploy.

Regards

Jayabarathi
