I was away from agathiyar for few days and came back today to see a lot
of activity on something that I enjoy; words - old and new in tamil. I
have a few remarks to make and two suggestions, As there were too many
postings and it requires too many cutting and pasting, I will make the
remarks without origianl ref.

(இதன் தொடர்புடைய sorting-ஐ பிரித்தல் எனக் கொள்ளலாம். sorting in the ascending

Now the suggestions, I use marriam-websters dictionary online to refer
to any word in english. They have provided a small applet, which when
accepted sites on the bar (user-configurable) in my netscape navigator.
I just click on it and it gives me a dialog box to enter the word and
direclty searchs the MW and gives the answer in a top netscape window
(without the pain of going through the MW home, search pages). I will
be very happy if someone comes up with such a small and convenient
applet for cologne OTL. My limited programming knowledge is not
sufficient for doing this.

This is a trivial assignment for all java masters around us.

And then, there is a suggestion, For all chandras, rama.kis, ganesans
and maNivaNNans:

You are doing a very valuable service to us referring to OTL and other
valuable resources, which most of us do not have access to - digging
out gems of our language. And everyday you write that in various
groups. We read, appreciate and FORGET, then after few days when we
want to use them we search for 2 hours in all the archieves of these
groups only to get frustrated. When don't one of you co-ordinate and
make a page (or site) - preferably a classified one, with a bit of java
programming so that all the words (only words and not the discussions)
can be entered into the database. This will go a long way to make
these available to everyone at all the time and conveniently. REMEMBER
you are builing an "online pazaku thamiz lexicon" in the process, which
can later be made public domain for anyone to adopt for his
wordprocessing program, database search engines and the like. I can do
this myself, but I have already taken the task of collecting all yappu
related info in one place. But, I can assist anyone who undertakes it.

I know, as usual, these suggestion of mine to DO SOEMTHING SOLID, that
will be useful to the community, will also be not heeded (not even a
single soul replies for such postings). But I still make, because I am
sure more of us are going to face the same kind of frustration to
search a chaotic database - increasingly in the near future, and
atleast that time, they will remember these words.
