To be precise, it should say "vedas which were COMPOSED before
1000BC." not written. If Atharva Veda was not considered a
part of the Vedas, why did they make such a fuss about "nAnmaRai"
and "caturvEdi"? It may not have been a "respectable" veda, but
it seems to have been an esoteric collection of useful information
as well as magic. Why did na.iniyar discount Atharva veda?
