I think there is little harshness/despair/effort involved
when the word, "karaithal" is used.

"kaakam karaiyuthu" - little harshness embedded.
"aanayu karathare" - famous carnatic music piece in kannada
referring to Gajendra moksha episode. Here the elephant is
calling out (karathare) the help of Vishnu.
"kalamkarai viLakkam" = Lighthouse on a seashore, makes
an effort to guide ships.

So, "akavi" is better than "karaivi", I think, for the pager.
