There's not an easy answer to your question. I suggest one of the
following:-

a) do a search for "Sangam Age" and "Sangam era" on google.com
b) let me know your budget -- how much you are willing to spend on books to
be sent to you from India. US$100? US$200? I'll see what I can round up.
c) get onto YIM and buzz me at bala2pillai

A book that compares the inventiveness and success therefore the successful
minds of Tamils in the Sangam ages versus the failure and therefore the
failing minds of contemporary Tamils with special attention to:-

a) levels of self-confidence
b) levels of denial
c) levels of risk-taking
d) levels of community connectedness
e) nature of mental health
f) levels of inquiry
g) levels of a yin-yang (Saivite) versus a "black or white" (Semetic)
worldview
h) levels of "one-ness" with Nature/ holism/ common sense

has yet to be written. If you are interested, we could form a group of us
and start working on this book -- it would be a great eye-opener to Tamils.

Most of my writings on this are my putting many multi-dimensional jig-saw
puzzles together from my exposure to rural and urban life in many countries,
my readings, my "scenarios" imaginations, my deep thinking against stars and
open spaces, my large sample base of observations/experience, and my habit
of reflecting on them and accumulating/synthesising them onto my cognition
bank.
