(excerpt)

Recently I came across a news item in a Singapore daily that India will
issue
immediate visa to Singaporeans so as to facilitate tourist visits to
India. But only to
Bombay and New Delhi airports. What about the other India airports? Can
you confirm
or correct my information?

EDITOR'S RESPONSE:

I do not have the information but it could very well be true because
the Indian
Government, dominated and controlled by Hindian politicians, always
finds ways to help
Hindians and the Hindi-belt region. For the benefit of some of our
readers, let me
answer the question, "how does the above policy help the Hindi-belt?"

The major international airports in India are New Delhi, Mumbai
(Bombay), Kolkata
(Calcutta), Chennai (Madras) and Bangalore. Both New Delhi and Mumbai
are close to
the Hindi-belt, the other three airports are further away. By issuing
visa quickly to those
tourists and business people visiting India via the two airports closer
to the Hindi-belt,
the Indian Government is encouraging them to visit and do business in
and around the
Hindi-belt, at the detriment of the northeast region (where Kolkata
airport is located) and
the south (where both Chennai and Bangalore airports are located). I
should also point
out that at present there are more Singaporean tourists visiting the
south than any other
region because of close cultural ties with the southern state of Tamil
Nadu. Also, there
are more business connections between Singapore and Tamil Nadu. Indian
Government's policy of granting immediate visa to those traveling to
Mumbai and New
Delhi airports is a calculated measure to change this in favor of the
Hindi-belt and
nearby areas.

This is not the first time that the Hindian dominated Indian Government
used airports
and airline fares to favor the Hindi-belt region. In Section 5 of the
article "Indian
Government Chokes Software Industry in Tamil Nadu" (TAMIL TRIBUNE,
March
2001), Thanjai Nalankilli gives the example of how the Indian
Government set airfares
to Arab Gulf States from Mumbai (Bombay) and the south-Indian
Thiruvananthapuram
(Trivandrum) in such a way as to favor the Hindi-belt region.
