Yes, I have read Narendra Subramanian's work. In fact, I
have my own copy. A very interesting and reasonably
'dispassionate' and scholarly work.
Yes, I have also read Ryerson's work as well as Irschik's.
It was in the days when i was somewhat active in the
soc.culture.tamil newsgroup 3 or 4 years ago. I remember to
have written on, or referred to, both authors. I only wish
that Indians, and especially Thamiz scholars, would
also write such scholarly and interesting works without
bias and prejudice and fawning towards individuals, but
with close adherence to facts and providing verifiable
references to support the facts. Then they can go on to add
their intrepretations of events, but not justifications and
exculpations. Maybe, we have to wait for another millennium
for it!
