Chinese area becomes poster child against toxic PC waste
Feb. 25 A new report by environmental groups documents what few Americans know: If you’ve ever turned an old computer over to a recycler or parts dealer, there’s a chance it ended up on a heap in China, India or Pakistan, where laborers burn, smash and pick apart electronic waste to scavenge for the metals inside -- unwittingly exposing themselves and their surroundings to toxic hazards.
