Want to make a comment. Tamil experts have written
widely about iLaGkO's Jain religion.
It looks some disagree looking at Hindu
gods in Cilampu.

"appaTiyirukkac cilampu camaNam en2patu poruntaatu".
However:
Many gods in Hinduism are shared by Jainism as well.
PadmAvati, Saraswati, Ambikaa, and so on. Neminatha is considered
a cousin of Krishna. Saschikaa statues are remarkably close
to Durga killing Mahisha. There are Jain Ramayanas.
Common heritage, that's all.
Again, an art evidence can be submitted. Panel of Tamil
experts have considered all the evidence, and a larger than
lifesize statue of iLaGkO aTikaL as a Jain monk
stands on the Madras Marina beach for all to see and consider.
Compare with the coin issued by the government on VaLLuvar,
a clear Jaina monk under an umbrella symbol (like the
theerthangara statues) clean shaven and no sacred thread.
Numismtists consider the early 1800s coin made out of pure
gold one of the best ever minted by any Govt. in India.
This vaLLuvar statue can be contrasted with
neo-saivaite portrayals of vaLLuvar as a Siddhar,
usually with thiruniiRu, yajnopaviitam and a rudraaksha
maalaa.
