Anpulla Amma Gnanam,
Mikka nandri for replying my email - most appreciated. I am all admiration
for you, 70+ aged Amma Gnanam :-).
I would so much like to get lots more elder, semi-retired and retired Tamils
with precious minds and connections to cooperate with wired Tamil youth in
raising Tamildom. It would add holism, graciousness and connectedness as we
move towards greater and greater consensus on societal priorities in the
global Tamil mindcosm.
In particular, one area where you would be able to assist is in showing us
possible ways of us reducing close-mindedness amongst Tamils, much of which
comes from a lack of self-esteem and unexamined minds.
I can reluctantly understand why perhaps our fathers and many generations
prior to them did not examine their minds and pretty much passed on the
mindsets and beliefs that were brought down the generations.
But we are exposed to so much wisdom, so many books, to television, to so
many perspectives, countries and societies. How can we justify not
reexamining our minds in view of all these availabilities? How can we
justify simply passing down, without examination, what was passed down to
us?
We know that the "Chinese whispers" syndrome introduces errors when things
are passed from one to another in 2 minutes. Surely there is room for errors
when things are passed down through generations! And that must be the reason
why God or Nature provided us the reasoning/thinking/brain faculty to reason
for ourselves right from wrong, no?
[Chinese whispers: the game where a group of people stand in a line, and a
phrase is uttered to one in one end. And the person has to whisper what she
heard to the person next in line and on and on till it reaches the last
person in the line. And we ask the last person what she heard. Nearly
everytime, it is quite the opposite of what was told to the first person]
What approaches can we try to encourage self-examination of minds?
But first let's get you properly connected so that you can exchange emails
in Tamil. Please have your son to:-
a) download and install Thamil Innaiya Erumbugal E-Kalappai. Instructions
are at http://www.tamil.net/special
b) if he has any questions to go through Erumbugal Uthavi past questions and
answers which is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/e-uthavi
c) I would very much like it if you could pass on my Introduction to your
son, and have him contact me for his and Tamildom's benefit. As you well
know, today we learn from people and places we never would have thought of
learning from, including little ants in the ground! And one of the best
places for Tamils, if I may say so, is Thamil Innaiya Erumbugal at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/erumbugal
d) Once you are past this stage, please do contact me via Yahoo Instant
Messenger at 'bala2pillai' and I will explain how you can assist us in
bringing lots more retired and semi-retired Tamil minds on board Tamildom.
You will be helping yourself while helping others, just like ants do, in so
doing.
