Dear Friends,

I am reminded of a beautiful real life story that I read about 20 years ago,
in a Readers' Digest issue, from the sixties, I believe.(wherelse? in a
barber shop, ofcourse)

There was this doctor who was posted to an institution for the elders. On
his first day at work, while he is seated at his table, he hears a sound
"plop". After a while he hears it again, and again and again in almost
regular intervals. Curious to know what it was, he goes out of his room.
Next to the doctor's room, there was this room of an inmate. The door was
open and the doctor goes in.

There he sees a frail elderly man, probably in his nineties, bent over an
ancient typewriter. With all the strength that he can muster, he moves his
pointer figure with great difficulty across the keyboard, and brings it down
with much effort and control, and there comes the "plop". Then he starts
moving his solitary finger across the keyboard slowly, leveraging on the
movement of his entire upper body, and "plop" again. It takes a few minutes
between each "plop".

Astonished at the determination of this person to type whatever that he was
typing, the doctor goes over to see what it was he was typing.

It was a letter of love to his wife, that was in progress.

That letter-in-progress was published in full in Readers' Digest. It was one
of the most beautiful pieces of art that I have ever seen.

With warm regards,
Sathia,
KL, Malaysia.

Anpulla Amma Gnanam,

Mikka nandri for replying my email - most appreciated. I am all admiration
for you, 70+ aged Amma Gnanam :-).

I would so much like to get lots more elder, semi-retired and retired Tamils
with precious minds and connections to cooperate with wired Tamil youth in
raising Tamildom.
