Dear Friends,
The organisers of a Seminar for Tamil Women in Kuala Lumpur (expected to be
in July 2002) approached me for ideas on what message should we be imparting
to the participants. (here Tamil Women include Malaysians of Indian and
Srilankan origin despite the language group they belong to)
The Seminar will be entirely in Tamil and free of charge. It is expected to
be sponsored by a few Indian businesses. The organisers are planning to
focus on economic issues, opportunities made available by government for
progress etc, sharing of success stories by entrepreneurial women, cultural
and home building etc... The majority of the participants are expected to
have the background of primary/ secondary school education.
Taking advantage of the networked discussion groups, perhaps all of us can
give some thought to subject and share among us our views with the objective
of making some suggestions of benefit to our Tamil sisters.
Perhaps we can start off asking ourselves this question:
What is an ideal Tamil woman from various points of view such as culture,
religion, society, economics, education, psychology, technology, physical
attributes, wife, mother of a child and as mothers of humankind?
Thank you.
Regards,
Sathia,
KL, Malaysia.
