Dear Sir,

The whole purpose of a rigorous oral transmission is to maintain the
exact intonations, that is why written Vedas were frowned upon. There
are sets of rules called padapatha i.e. how each word is to be
pronounced. That is why guru-sishya parampara and not
written/printed medium was the mode of transmission. We are not
talking of spoken language or literary language but only liturgy. Our
ancestors have for many thousands of years ceased to speak vedic as
the primary language in everyday conversation.

Spoken language changes everywhere, including vedic. Ironically,
Vedic was the spoken language of vedic rishis and it has been
maintained in liturgy. . On the contrary, Sanskrit of Panini is
a "standardised language", which you may call elitist. Kalidasa's
sanskrit is different from Rg Veda's. Sure, all languages change
including sanskrit and tamil. But for special reasons, a set of
spoken language has been preserved under special conditions.

It is like havings parks in the midst of cities. Why do you have
parks which occupy prime land in the heart of cities. It is to remind
us that once we (or rather our ancestors) came out of forests and
subsequently we (or rather our ancestors) were agriculturists.
Maintaining a park takes such a lot of energy, money and effort.
Still we maintain parks because it reminds us of our social or even
biological evolution.
