Meaning:
You subdue the hunger of those who sing !
You remove the diseases of those who adore !
Oh the One, Who goes on alms with skull as the best
bowl !
Having the forest (cemetery) as Your place,
One Who dances in the darkness !
Oh Hunter, aren't You the (Lord of) kurugAvUr veLLaDai
?!
Notes:
1. When cundharar was on pilgrimage along with
others, one day they were quite hungry and thirsty,
but still continued their journey. The Lord Whom the
vedas hail as the provider of food and nourishment,
came as a chanter of vedas and set up a water-shed.
He provided food and water to cundharar and other
devotees and asked them to take some rest. When
they woke up they found the person and the
water-shed disappeared ! cundharar was melt by the
way God fondle Its devotees. This padhikam sprang out
of his heart.
2. kalan - instrument/(here)bowl, pali - alms
(begging).
