Dear Friends,
Animals make their sounds and cries in their
own ways.
But each ethnic group has its own way of
depicting them in its own language.
The English depict a dog's bark as 'bow wow'.
German would be 'ruff ruff'. In Tamil, we say 'loL loL'
or 'vaL vaL'.
The following URL shows how each language
depicts the sound of animals.
This can throw some light on onomatoepic
origin of certain words.
