Dear Friends,

Today is Guru PUrNimA.
This is the day that pujai and respect is done to
whomsoever is our Guru.
Nowadays, there are many people who have
taken up some saint, sage, siddhar, or acharya as
a Guru. Many have Diiksha Guru according to their
heritage.
On this day, Vyasa who is regarded as the Grand Master
of all Masters is worshipped. This day is otherwise known as
Vyasa Pujai.
A guru is very important to a person. No less a
personage as the Great Thirumuular hime\self has extolled
the greatness and importance of Guru.

There is a beautiful verse that he has written
on Guru.

The sun will not burn a wisp of cotton.
But in the presence of a suuriya kaanthak kal -
convex crytal lens, it burns the cotton.
A person will not receive divinity by himself.
But in the presence of a Guru he will do so.

So, let us offer our respects to all whom we
consider as our Gurus.

The PaurNami starts at 2-30 pm IST of 23-07-2002
and lasts until 3-00 pm IST of 24-07-2002.
